Former NFL star Antonio Brown went live on social media over the weekend. And had a lot to say during a lengthy rant. One of his targets was former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. The QB from whom Brown caught passes during the majority of his career.
Antonio Brown Crashes Out During Recent Social Media Rant
During his rant, Brown called out Roethlisberger for holding him back. The former NFL star also claimed that he doesn’t need an induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame to justify that he had a Hall of Fame-worthy career.
“Ask Ben Roethlisberger how many touchdowns he held me back from. Ask him,” Brown said, as caught by SteelersWire. You think I need a Hall of Fame award for you guys to know how great I am? I don’t need any awards. You can take the awards & shove it up your a–.”
Brown had a fast start to his career. Snagging 69 receptions for 1,108 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns in just his second NFL season. However, off-the-field issues soured his relationship with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was ultimately traded to the Oakland Raiders in 2019 along with a brand new $50 million contract. However, that relationship never came to fruition. Once again, multiple off-the-field issues that summer ended his relationship with the Raiders. This led to him never playing a single down for the franchise.
The final act for Brown came during his time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In his final game against the New York Jets, Brown began to have a dispute on the sideline with an assistant coach. However, instead of handling it maturely, Brown made a spectacle of himself. Stripping out of his helmet, jersey, and shoulder pads. He then ran off the sideline, onto the field, and into the locker room as he pumped up the crowd at MetLife Stadium. It is still one of the most cringeworthy spectacles that the sports world has ever seen.
