DJ Quik is making it clear he’s not down with Drake. The legendary Compton rapper delivered a succinct message that expressed his feelings.

What Did DJ Quik Say About Drake?

In a quote post on threads, Quik offered commentary to a fan’s rendition of Drake’s cover. He replaced the diamond glove with a glove made of corn, indicating Drake is corny. Quik had one response to this.

“Yep,” he posted.

Drake and Quik don’t have much history that’s known. However, there are old videos of Quik dancing to Mac Dre, who Drake sampled, heavily, for his rendition of Dre’s classic, “Too Hard For The F**** Radio.” Many fans have called Drake out for lazy sampling, and most damning, making sure that people found his song more than the original legend’s. If you search too hard for the radio on google or spotify, Drake’s song comes up way before Mac Dre’s. Streams for the original also haven’t seen much of a boost, sitting idley at 3.9M streams on Spotify.

The other reason DJ Quik might not rock with Drake is he’s from Compton, the birthplace of the self-proclaimed number one Drizzy hater, Kendrick Lamar. In a 2024 podcast appearance, when asked who he sided with for the beef, he emphatically made it clear he rocked with Kendrick.

Who Else Is Dissing Drake Since Iceman?

The critics have been pretty adamant about their contempt for his new rapping album. Pitchfork gave Iceman a 4.8, while Anthony Fantano hit it with a 2 out of 10. The metacritic score is also subpar, sitting at a 53 out of 100. Rate Your Music also trashed the album, giving it a 2.24 aggregate score out of 5.

Fans don’t seem to agree, several people on X and Instagram have been praising the album as one of his best in years. However, there’s been other people, such as Jaylen Brown, Rick Ross, Ryan Garcia, and others have expressed discontent with the album.

Additionally, both 1900 Rugrat and SunnyBoyFitz have accused Drake of stealing their songs for the album.
