Chad Ochocinco wanted to make sure his legacy lived on through his children. But, only if they had a chance to live up to their father’s athletic prowess.

A clip from 2022 on Ryan Clark’s The Pivot podcast revealed that the All Pro had a strategy when picking who he wanted to procreate with.
“It wasn’t about having a woman that’s fine, look a certain way, got to be a certain color, a certain complexion, hair, and all this stuff that just didn’t matter. I needed athletes. I wanted athletes. You look at the kids. You look at the pedigree that I have created. It was all orchestrated. I told those that I dealt with during that time, ‘Did you run track in high school, did you cheer, did you do volleyball. Let me check your ankles.’ I always wanted to check women’s ankles because you have to understand, if I want athletes, the number one foundation for an elite athlete in any sport is your footwork. And if she had bad ankles, there’s no way I could procreate with you. She had no idea she was going through my own personal combine. We went to Dave & Buster’s. She kept asking, ‘why are we doing this, why are we playing these games, why are you taking me to the gym with you. Why are we playing one-on-one in basketball. I’m trying to understand and make sure that I am procreating with someone that is athletic.”

How Did Fans React?
Despite this being four years ago, the clip is going viral again and people had opinions.
“Imagine believing you can be a good and present father in that situation,” one user posted.
“Dude is channeling the same song that Ray Charles channeled with his ‘sexy wrists’ requirement. Ray was blind of course, so he’d shake a woman’s hand and feel her wrist…,” another user posted.
“I can’t decide if this is crazy smart or just plain crazy – I think the latter because u can be as athletic as you want but intelligence matters at the highest level of sports and nobody is mistaking 85 for Einstein,” another user posted.
It seems to have worked, as several of his children have become D1 college football stars, Junior Olympic track stars, and other athletic ventures. The morality though is debatable.
Ochocinco has previously said he wants to be a battle rapper, telling DJ Envy to get some together so he can smoke them.
“Tell these battle rappers I’m here and I’m outside. Listen [Loaded] Lux, DNA, [Charlie] Clips, Hollow [Da Don], Goodz, [Aye] Verbs, let them know I’m outside… if they want to rekindle and get that fire back going in battle rap, come holla at yo boy.”
