DJ Akademiks is adding more fuel to the speculation surrounding a possible new JAY-Z album.
During a recent discussion, Akademiks said he has also heard that Hov has a new project in the works, though he stopped short of confirming that the album is finished or ready for release.
“I didn’t hear like, ‘Oh, it’s ready to go out.’ I didn’t hear that, ‘Oh, they’re waiting on a partner.’ But I hear there’s an album. I have heard that,” Akademiks said.
Akademiks also addressed speculation that JAY-Z could bring Kendrick Lamar out during his upcoming Los Angeles show, which happens to fall on Drake’s birthday. While he doesn’t expect Hov to make that move, Akademiks admitted he’ll be there to see what happens.
“I don’t think JAY-Z would try to bring out Kendrick on Drake’s birthday,” he said. “Well, if it does happen, I’ll be in the building.”
With multiple people now discussing the possibility of new JAY-Z music, anticipation continues to build around what could be his first solo studio album in nearly a decade.
