Snoop Dogg is always busy it seems and now, ahead of his new biopic, he’s taking on the mantle of host, as he’s been tapped as the master of ceremonies for the MTV Video Music Awards.
According to a report by Deadline, the show airs on CBS, MTV, and Paramount+ on September 27th from Los Angeles, the first time back in LA since 2017.
Snoop first made his debut at the awards show back in 1994, when his breakout album Doggystyle captivated the masses. He performed “Murder Was The Case,” and walked away with one win for Best Rap Video for “Doggy Dogg World.”
In a statement, he expressed how much the VMAs have meant to him.
“MTV and the VMAs have been part of my story since the beginning,” Snoop Dogg said. “Some of the biggest moments of my career happened on that stage and on MTV—they gave Hip Hop a place to be loud, fearless and seen by the whole world. So to come back now and host the VMAs, all these years later, that’s a full-circle moment for me. And doing it with my brother Van Toffler makes it even more special. Van was there during those early MTV days when we were changing the culture in real time, and we’ve got a whole lot of history together. Now we get to make some new history.”

The Snoop Biopic
So far, we know, most of the cast. Lauren London as Snoop Dogg’s late mother Beverly Tate, Myles Bullock as Dr. Dre, Algee Smith as Warren G, Camron Jones as Tupac Shakur, Corey Champagne as Nate Dogg, and more. Snoop is played by Jonathan Daviss of Outer Banks. Tre Hale plays Suge Knight.
Then, SwayvoTwain (Family Legacy, Love & Neo-Soul: Honoring the Legacy of D’Angelo) will portray The Notorious BIG, Biggie Smalls in the film. Furthermore, Bentley Green (The Land, Undercard, White Men Can’t Jump, Snowfall) will play RBX and California rapper G Perico (Kings of L.A, She Ball) acts as Big Reecie Cup.
The film is expected for a 2027 release.
