Macklemore is one of the few rappers who’s openly called for the freedom of Palestine from the tyranny of Israel. Now, it appears his stances have caused him a major opportunity.
The Seattle rapper recently went viral for supporting Palestine. It’s a stance he’s carried for many years, long before other artists spoke up.
However, according to a report by Rolling Stone, a rep for Messina Touring Group, the promoter behind the U.S. leg of Sheeran’s tour, says the Grammy-winner “will not be performing on the remaining support dates.”
The promoter claims that several venues (there are only 8 shows left on the tour) indicated they would not allow Macklemore to perform, leading to the decision to remove him from the tour after a conversation with stakeholders.
His comments at a recent MetLife Stadium show stirred the pot.
“One of the reasons why I wanted to come on this tour was because I wanted to stand up here on stages and stadiums across America and say two words that are very near and dear to my heart: Free Palestine. … I want those words to be loud and clear, so the people from Gaza all the way to the occupied West Bank know that we have not forgotten them,” Macklemore told the crowd.
Macklemore is no longer on Ed Sheeran’s stadium tour following his recent “Free Palestine” speech.

Macklemore Responds To The Petition
In response to a petition to get him kicked off the tour, he stood firm on his beliefs.
“To all of my Jewish brothers and sisters, criticism of Israel, criticism of apartheid, being against genocide [is] in no way is a criticism of you. My message is for peace, love for all human beings to be treated with dignity, respect, and equality. So I say free Palestine, I say free Lebanon, I say free Cuba, I say free Congo, free Sudan, free all people in America living in fear over this terrorist organization ICE. None of us will be free until we are all free.”
He also posted a video in response.
