A$AP Rocky is setting the record straight about long-standing rumors surrounding his 2019 legal ordeal in Sweden. Speaking recently with DJ Akademiks, Rocky pushed back on the narrative that Donald Trump got him out of jail.

According to Rocky, the situation was more complicated—and in some ways worsened—by Trump’s involvement. He claimed that the attention from the former president actually led Swedish authorities to keep him detained longer, rather than speeding up his release. Rocky suggested the political spotlight turned his case into an international issue, creating additional pressure instead of relief.
The Harlem rapper was jailed in Sweden following a street altercation in Stockholm, a case that drew global attention from fans, artists, and politicians alike. While Trump publicly claimed credit at the time, Rocky’s comments reinforce that his release came through legal channels—not political favors.
Rocky’s remarks have reignited debate about celebrity, politics, and justice abroad, offering a firsthand perspective that challenges a narrative that’s lingered for years.
