A$AP Rocky is opening up about the motivation behind his pointed lyrics on Stole Ya Flow, where he appeared to take shots at Drake and several other rappers.

Speaking on The Joe Budden Podcast, Rocky acknowledged the internal conflict behind his decision. While part of him feels it’s time to move on and let past issues fade, he admitted another side of him still embraces a bit of pettiness. According to Rocky, that duality is rooted in the competitive nature of hip-hop itself.

“Hip-Hop is competitive. I said what I said,” Rocky explained, making it clear the record wasn’t aimed at just one person. Instead, he framed the track as a broader statement to the entire rap field. Emphasizing his background, Rocky added that his approach comes from his Harlem roots, where standing your ground and asserting yourself is part of the culture.

The comments have reignited conversation around lyrical sparring, competition, and ego in rap, with fans debating whether “Stole Ya Flow” represents friendly competition or something more pointed. Either way, A$AP Rocky’s explanation reinforces that, for him, hip-hop is still very much a contact sport.
