Fresh off the release of his fourth studio album Don’t Be Dumb earlier this month, rap artist A$AP Rocky is already thinking about his next chapter. And that could be a career in politics.
In a recent sit-down with Esquire, Rocky says that he would “for sure” want to be Mayor of New York City.
A$AP Rocky Teases Run for NYC Mayor in 2029
When asked why that was something that he could see in his future, A$AP cited himself as a man of the people. And knowing the pulse of the city.
“You know, there are a lot of political current affairs that need to be addressed. Changes that need to be made. I think that I would really do well because I’m a guy who’s for the people,” he said as heard through @HotNewHipHop/X
“You see potholes, you fix them. Look at the rates for the trains. The fare just went up to three dollars. It f*****g crazy. You know inflation is crazy. I mean SNAP, and welfare, and food stamps, and all of you know benefits, you know it’s f****d up.”

A$AP Rocky is also a native son of New York City. Born and raised in Harlem. Because of that, Rocky says he truly knows the pulse of the city. So he can empathize with many of the issues that they face. The rapper also says that other politicians have “ulterior motives,” which are often “self-beneficial.” But he actually wants to see the city thrive.
“Because that’s where I derive from, I would create more job opportunities, create better health care,” Rocky added. “You know these are the things that most politicians come in promising. But for the most part, you just assume a lot of the decisions made by politicians, you know, have ulterior motives, and it’s really self-beneficial. For me, I make a really great living off of being myself. So, in 2029, vote for Mayor Meyers.”
