According to DJ Akademiks, there are real dollars being thrown around behind the scenes to make certain artists look bad. During a recent livestream, Ak claimed he was personally offered about $15,000 to push negative narratives about Playboi Carti.
“I said, ‘Bro, Carti is my friend… not posting that,’” he explained in a clip shared online, adding that he even told Carti about the offer. He admitted that the situation made him realize “there’s some other entity” with enough money not just to promote their own artists — but to allegedly try to damage competitors.
Akademiks also claimed he turned down a similar offer involving A$AP Rocky.
“I’m trying to do an interview with him. What do I look like?” he said.
It’s not necessarily the Watergate level scandal that Akademiks is trying to make it out to be, but it’s always nice to be reminded that the game was rigged long before you sat at the table.
