ESPN personality Stephen A. Smith is no stranger to putting his foot in his mouth. But he may have bitten off a little more than he can chew when it comes to Serena Williams and her husband, Reddit co-founder, Alex Ohanian.
Alex Ohanian Claps Back at Stephen A. Smith
Ohanian was recently a guest on ESPN’s flagship show, First Take. And although Stephen A. was not physically present for his appearance, that did not stop Ohaninan from letting the chopper sing.
Stephen A. previously had sarcastically advised Ohanian to leave Serena Williams. Because of her performance during last year’s Super Bowl Halftime show. And in his response, he told the famed sports personality to stay in his lane when it comes to marital advice.
“You hadn’t been married before, right?” Ohanian asked Stephen A, who then responded, “No.”
Ohanian then replied: “Because I advise plenty of founders who want to build billion-dollar companies. And the reason I do that is because I build billion-dollar companies.”
Stephen A. invited him to have a further discussion off camera, but for the most part, he remained stunned in silence.
However, fans on social media did the exact opposite.
“I like how Alex Ohanian ran this back on Stephen A, like what were you saying bout me and mine, cuz?!” one person said on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“Wow…this is a historic day. Someone was much more of an arrogant d**k on ESPN than Stephen A. Smith. CONGRATS, Mr. Serena Williams!” another user added.
“Ohanian really made Stephen A. look like a clueless commentator on his own turf. Respect where it’s due,” a third user said.

This entire exchange stemmed from Kendrick Lamar’s performance during last year’s Super Bowl Halftime Show. Serena Williams appeared as one of the dancers. And while her dancing on stage to Not Like Us was more of an homage to her Compton roots, many people, like Stephen A, felt like it was an act to shade her ex-boyfriend, Drake, who the song is aimed at.
