Former magazine executive and rapper Benzino is speaking out against Dee-1, accusing him of hypocrisy when it comes to his stance on violence in Hip-Hop.
During a conversation with Ray Daniels, Benzino compared Dee-1’s approach to that of a “false preacher,” suggesting that his messaging doesn’t align with his actions. According to Benzino, Dee-1 cannot publicly condemn violent content in rap while simultaneously collaborating with artists whose music promotes it.
He specifically pointed to Dee-1’s involvement with artists like B.G. and Boosie Badazz, both of whom are known for raw street narratives in their lyrics.
Benzino’s criticism highlights an ongoing debate within Hip-Hop about accountability, authenticity, and the balance between message-driven artistry and collaboration. As conversations around the culture continue to evolve, moments like this underscore the tension between personal values and industry realities.
Benzino tells Ray Daniels that he thinks Dee-1 uses the same deceptive tactics as a false preacher does. You can’t call out violence in Hip Hop on one hand, while on the other hand having verses with BG and Boosie artists whose lyrics actively promote violence. pic.twitter.com/AuKXyUDUUE
