The theme for this year’s Met Gala was ‘Tailoring Black Style’ with the accompanying dress code is ‘Tailored for You’. And Anna Wintour, the lead chairperson for the event tapped some of the top tastemakers to help coordinate the event. Acting star Colman Domingo, F1 driver Lewis Hamilton, rapper A$AP Rocky, and Louis Vuitton Creative Director Pharrell Williams all assisted Wintour with the coordination of the event.
NBA star LeBron James was named co-chair of the event. However, James suffered an MCL sprain during their first-round matchup against the Minnesota Timberwolves in April. Because of that, LeBron says he will be unable to attend. However, his wife Savannah will represent both of them at the May 5 event.
“Unfortunately because of the knee injury I sustained at the end of the season, I won’t be able to attend the Met Gala in NY tonight. As so many people have been asking and congratulating me on!” James announced on social media on May 5.
“Hate to miss a historical event! My beautiful powerful Queen will be there holding the castle down as she always has done!”
