Dallas rapper Xavier Landum, known professionally as BigXthaPlug, was arrested Thursday night and booked into Dallas County Jail — his second arrest in North Texas this year.
According to an arrest affidavit, officers pulled over the 26-year-old around 8:45 p.m. on Aug. 21 for driving without a front license plate after leaving a Williams Chicken restaurant. Police were reportedly monitoring the area following a tip about a car club gathering.
During the stop, an officer asked if Landum had any weapons. He allegedly admitted one was under his armrest. Officers say they recovered two firearms and marijuana from his truck. Records also show Landum is listed in the NCIC gang database, making firearm possession a misdemeanor offense in Texas.
He was charged with possession of marijuana under two ounces and unlawful possession of a firearm.
The arrest came just hours before a scheduled album release party at Deep Ellum’s Cash Cow bar. Landum’s new project, I Hope You’re Happy, officially dropped Friday, Aug. 22, and includes collaborations with Jelly Roll, Luke Combs, and Shaboozey.
