Brooklyn Is Close To Renaming Biggie’s Childhood Block After The Late Great Emcee

According to Brooklyn Paper, Biggie is one step closer to having the street he grew up on renamed in his honor. The motion to rename Biggie’s childhood block, Clinton Hill, was passed in a vote by the borough’s Community Board 2. This meaning the initiative is that much closer to becoming a really real.

Next, the motion will have to receive an official approval from the City Council and Mayor De Blasio. The motion was first presented years back by LeRoy McCarthy and if passed it will rename the block of St. James Place, between Gates Avenue and Fulton Street, as Christopher Wallace Way.

“Honoring Biggie symbolizes more than just one man,” McCarthy shared with Rolling Stone. “It symbolizes a culture. It symbolizes a borough. It symbolizes a people, and hip-hop is worldwide.”

McCarthy hopes the motion will receive the final approval in time to rename the street by Biggies next birthday, on May 21st.

Spread love it’s the BROOKLYN Way!
