Bryson Tiller has quickly climbed the ranks as one of the more popular R&B artists in the game. But during a recent episode of the Rory & Mal podcast, he revealed that his path to stardom was a rocky road to trot.
Bryson Tiller Says Timbaland Ghosted Him After Making Him Quit His Job
During his appearance on the podcast, Tiller recalled catching the eye of legendary producer Timbaland following the release of his smash hit Don’t. But unfortunately, Timbaland eventually ghosted Tiller.
As the R&B artist recalls, after hearing the hit song, Timbaland invited him out to Miami to work on more music. However, at the time, Tiller was still working a 9-5 in his hometown of Philadelphia. And he was unsure if he would be able to get the time off from work. That is when Timbaland made a shocking request.
“He was like, ‘Yo, quit your job,'” Tiller recalled.
Tiller put his trust in the super producer and resigned from his job. And eventually made it out to Miami to link up with him. However, Timbaland was not a fan of the other songs he recorded and wanted him to make more music that sounded like Don’t.
Tiller did say that Timbaland hit him off with an undisclosed amount of Cash. But he was still unsure of where things stood between them. That’s when he hit him back to ask him if he was signed to his label. And during that discussion, Timbo claimed that he never told Tiller to quit his job. After that, the two never spoke again.
Things eventually did work out for Tiller. He mentioned that two of the songs that Timbaland wasn’t feeling were Sorry Not Sorry and Been That Way. And those songs ultimately made the cut for his debut album T R A P S O U L.
Timbaland has yet to offer a response to Tiller’s claims.
