Cam’ron believes the 2005 shooting that resulted in him getting hit in both arms was directly influenced by his acting chops in ‘Paid in Full.’
On a recent episode of his Talk With Flee show, Killa detailed how a line Dame Dash had him utter during re-shoots of the film was the catalyst. The line went along the effects of something like, “I’ll give you some n****s from D.C. but not no Harlem n****s.”
“N***as from D.C. already don’t like New York n***as,” Cam’ron shared while recalling how he unsuccessfully tried to remove the line. “He told me I had to do it, so I did it. And four years later, n***as shot me in D.C.”
On October 23, 2005, the Dipset rapper faced a failed carjacking at a red light in Washington D.C. and somehow drove himself to the Howard University Hospital despite his injuries.
Dame Dash Takes Fault for Cam’ron’s Shooting
Dame Dash, who served as a producer on the film, previously told a similar story to Cam’ron’s about the shooting.
“Cam went through a lot, you know? He got shot over that role in Washington,” he said on a 2022 episode of SHOWTIME Basketball’s All The Smoke. “Yeah, that was over that. He’s never told his story, but there was times I hadn’t really realized what happened and I was asking him to do another role once and he was like, ‘Yo bro, I got shot over that role.’
Dash added: “So when I found out, I felt a little responsible and I didn’t wanna put anybody in that position again. ‘Cause people take this story really serious. So it has to be really done completely correctly.”
Dame has been discussing a sequel to the legendary film for many years, even announcing he was filming at one point, but nothing has come to fruition as of yet.
