Drake appears to have officially moved past his 2024 beef with Kendrick Lamar. At least as far as the music is concerned. But Drizzy is still looking to recoup for his losses that came as a result of the bitter rap feud.

UMG Calls Out Drake Over Hypocrisy
Kendrick’s hit record “Not Like Us,” which takes aim at Drake, became a global phenomenon in 2024. But Drizzy has brought litigation against the Universal Music Group (UMG) over the track. He says that Kendrick’s accusations of him being a “certified pedo*****” were inappropriate. And in a recent filing, he claimed that the censoring of the word during Kendrick’s Super Bowl performance in February only further backs his claim.
However, UMG hit back at Drizzy in a major way. Doubling down on their previous claims that the rap star is just being a sore loser. And now the label has motioned to have the case dismissed altogether.
“As Drake concedes, Lamar’s Super Bowl performance did not include the lyric that Drake or his associates are ‘certified pedo******’ (i.e., the alleged ‘Defamatory Material’ that is at the heart of this case),” the filing reads.
“The focus of Drake’s new claims—that ‘the largest audience for a Super Bowl halftime show ever’ did not hear Lamar call Drake or his crew pedophiles—betrays this case for what it is. Drake’s attack on the commercial and creative success of the rap artist. Who defeated him, rather than the content of Lamar’s lyrics.”
The label also blasted Drizzy for being a hypocrite, noting that he defamed Kendrick’s name in similar ways.
“Apparently, Drake’s lawyers believe that when Drake willingly participates in a performative rap-battle of music and poetry, he can be ‘defamed’ even though he engages in the exact same form of creative expression.”
It appears that UMG is referring to Drake’s 2024 song, Family Matters, where he paints Kendrick as a domestic abuser, which was never proven to be true.
