A lot has transpired since Cardi B dropped her debut album, Invasion of Privacy, seven years ago. Marriages, divorces, rap beefs, you name it. But despite all the drama, Cardi has remained one of the top female rap artists in the game.
Cardi B Explains Why She is Part of The “Big 3”
During a recent interview with Billboard, Cardi B said that she belongs in rap’s female “big 3” along with Nicki Minaj and Megan Thee Stallion.
“Because I do my job well and I take my time with my music — clearly you can see that,” she said to the outlet when asked why she belongs in that group. “But it’s something you’d have to ask the fans. So many [rappers] come and go, and I’m still here. You can downplay my accent, but I put a lot of thought into my work. I don’t half-ass anything I do.”
Rap Star Addresses Past Beefs
One thing about being one of the top female artists in the game — someone is always going to try to come for your spot. Naturally, Cardi has been involved in several rap beefs over the years. Whether it was with Nicki Minaj, JT, or Bia, Cardi always seems to find herself at the center of drama. She previously told the outlet that she believes all of her past beefs were rooted in jealousy.
“Even in the industry, there are a lot of different female rappers, but for some reason, it’s something about me that these b—hes can’t stand. They can’t f–k with me. Some b—hes, I feel like they’re in this class right now, they’re sophomores, and I’m a senior,” she said.
“And it’s like, you want to f–k with the senior so bad. You think you’re here with the senior. You’re not even a junior. You need to worry about those other sophomores before you start worrying about the f–king senior. It’s something about [me] that it’s like, they can’t even focus on them. Throwing me shots and throwing me slings … and I’m sick of it. It’s like, f–k you, f–k everybody.”
Am I The Drama? Releases on September 19.
