Rap star Cardi B has found herself in hot water. And ironically enough, it is due to an incident over cold water.
Cardi B Sued Over 2023 Incident
The Invasion of Privacy artist is being sued over her infamous 2023 microphone-throwing incident at Drai’s Nightclub in Las Vegas. For those tardy to the party, a fan appeared to throw their drink on Cardi, and she responded by throwing her microphone at the fan’s head.
The woman, who has elected to remain anonymous, says that the Grammy-winner instructed fans in the crowd to splash her with water. And after seeing many other members of the audience do it, the woman also began to participate. But when she splashed Cardi, she was met with a microphone to the face.
Per TMZ, the woman is now suing Cardi B for assault and battery.
Cardi addressed the incident on Power 105.1 FM’s The Breakfast Club in 2024. During her appearance, she noted that she did instruct fans to splash her. But also requested that they not splash her face. And the fan took things too far, which caused her reaction.
“It was hotter than a mo*********r,” she explained. “There was a part of the show that I told people, you know, ‘splash me.’ But even when I told people ‘splash me,’ I was like, ‘be careful with the face.'”
She also added: “This b***h threw water and ice on my face, so I just automatically reacted. I didn’t even know that I was throwing it in that direction. I just threw the s**t because it’s like, ‘b***h, you hit me right in my face.’ And when I look at the video, it’s like, nah, you intended to throw that shit in my face.”
Rap star 50 Cent had a similar incident during the Los Angeles stop of his “Final Lap” tour in 2023. One of the microphones provided to the G-Unit rapper wasn’t working. Rather than passing it to the stage crew, 50 hurled it into the crowd.
That’s when the microphone hit Power 106 DJ Bryhana Monegain. The Queens rapper was able to avoid criminal charges for striking Monegain. But the Power 106 host still sued 50 for the injuries she suffered as a result of the incident.
