A U.K. judge granted the R&B superstar bail on Wednesday (May 21), allowing him to walk free after being held in custody for nearly a week.
Brown, 36, was arrested in Manchester last Thursday in connection with an alleged assault at a London nightclub in 2023. Music producer Abe Diaw claims the singer smashed a tequila bottle over his head and then “ruthlessly” stomped on him while he was unconscious. Diaw filed a lawsuit last year, alleging serious injuries including head trauma and torn ligaments. Prosecutors are calling it an “unprovoked attack.”
After an initial court appearance in Manchester last Friday, Brown was remanded in custody. Now, he’s free on bail—just in time for his upcoming Breezy Bowl XX Tour, which kicks off June 15 in Manchester. That’s only two days after his trial is scheduled to begin in London.
But this freedom comes with strings attached. Judge Tony Baumgartner laid out some strict conditions for Breezy’s release including a £5 million (about $6.7 million) security bond, with £4 million upfront before release. Brown must stay at a court-approved address, steer clear of Tape Nightclub (where the alleged incident went down), and avoid all contact with Diaw.
He also had to surrender his passport—but the court made exceptions so he can keep performing. Under the deal, his lawyers will temporarily check out his travel documents for each international show. Once he touches down, another lawyer will take custody of the passport until the next tour stop.
So while Breezy’s dealing with serious legal drama, he’s not letting it stop the show.
