Dame Dash has now responded to JAŸ-Z after the Brooklyn rap legend appeared to throw shots during his Roots Picnic freestyle.
During a recent reaction, Dame made it clear that he wasn’t impressed with what he heard or saw from his former Roc-A-Fella partner. Dash said he felt embarrassed by the moment and criticized JAŸ-Z’s appearance, saying he wants to see him return to the classic look fans remember.
“This is an embarrassment for The Roc,” Dame said. “Jay, I care for you. When you do Yankee Stadium, I need you to get a Caesar and I need you to put the Yankee hat on. We don’t wanna see this version of you. I thought the raps was bad and terrible.”
Dame also weighed in on the ongoing battle conversations surrounding Drake, Kendrick Lamar, and JAŸ-Z. While he admitted that he doesn’t believe Drake could beat Kendrick in a rap battle, he said he believes Drake would defeat JAŸ-Z.
“I don’t think Drake can beat Kendrick, but Drake can beat JAŸ-Z,” Dame said. “I know that for a fact.”
The comments add another layer to the long and complicated history between Dame Dash and JAŸ-Z, whose Roc-A-Fella partnership helped define an era in Hip-Hop before their relationship publicly fractured. With JAŸ-Z’s Roots Picnic freestyle already sparking debate online, Dame’s response is sure to keep the conversation going.
