Drake and his label Universal Music Group (UMG) are once again at odds. But this time it has nothing to do with Not Like Us. This time it’s about his own music.
Drake & UMG at Odds Over Grammy Decision
Drake is celebrating the release of his trilogy of new albums. Iceman, Habibti, and Maid of Honour. And the album has already debuted in the top spot on the Billboard Hot 200. But Drake doesn’t appear to want recognition for the project. After Drizzy released the trilogy of new projects, the Recording Academy reportedly reached out to the rap star to see if he would be submitting any of the projects for Grammy consideration in 2027. And the rap star reportedly declined the offer
However, UMG is pushing hard for the albums to be submitted for Grammy consideration. This is reportedly causing “friction” between the rap star and his label. And could cause Drake to take more “legal action,” against the label (Via NoJumper/X).

Drake appears to do some foreshadowing about his decision on one of the Iceman tracks, Make Them Know.
“This album, I’m never submittin’ it. ‘Cause I know that they’ll never consider it. This might be the one year I won ‘Cause I know how they like to position it. My bros wanna mob on the stage. But I tell them boys, “Nah, have some discipline,” we don’t even want what they givin’ us.
Them shits don’t even have any significance,” he raps.
Drake releasing Habibti, Iceman, and Maid of Honour has reportedly fulfilled his contractual obligations with UMG. So it appears that the label is trying to capitalize on those releases as much as possible.
