Erick Sermon is opening up about why he decided to take part in Netflix’s explosive documentary Sean Combs: The Reckoning, a project executive produced by 50 Cent. During a recent appearance on The Breakfast Club, the legendary EPMD co-founder clarified his role in the film and the long-standing relationship that led him to participate.
Sermon explained that his connection with 50 Cent goes back many years, well before the documentary was ever conceived. Because of that history, when he was approached to answer questions and share personal stories involving Diddy, he didn’t hesitate. According to Sermon, his involvement was simply about being honest and recounting his experiences — not about joining a larger narrative.
“I was just telling stories about things that happened between me and Puff,” Sermon said, emphasizing that he had no idea what the final product would look like or how the footage would eventually be used. He also revealed that many of the stories he shared never made the final cut, leaving viewers unaware of the full context behind his perspective.
Sermon’s clarity comes as the documentary continues to spark conversation across the culture. By explaining his intentions and his longstanding rapport with 50 Cent, Sermon hopes to separate genuine storytelling from any perceived agenda, reinforcing that his participation was rooted in transparency — not controversy.
