2026 has featured some major headlines in Hip Hop. It appears Future is about to add to the hype.
What Did Future Announce?
On X, pictures surfaced of a digital Spotify billboard in New York that teased a new Hip Hop album. It just so happens that Future’s name appeared, with the title The Real Me, in black lettering splattered on a red background.
Then, Future himself confirmed the album’s existence.
“Album Title: THE REAL ME,” Future posted.
This marks Future’s first new album since 2024’s double effort, We Don’t Trust You and We Still Don’t Trust You. That album ended up becoming a catalyst for a seismic shift in Hip Hop, when Kendrick Lamar dissed Drake on “Like That,” leading to one of the biggest rap beefs of all time.
Future is also coming off serving as a performer for the FIFA World Cup opening ceremonies.

How Did Fans React To The Announcement?
Considering it’s the first full solo album since Future’s chart-topping I NEVER LIKED YOU, fans were quite hyped.
“The real me = 20 tracks of elite beat selection and terrible relationship advice,” one user posted.
“Imagine both Kendrick and drake being on this album.” another user posted.
“Future dropping “The Real Me” in 2026 after performing at the World Cup opening ceremony is the most confident album rollout of the year,” another user posted.
“This is where he pivots into conscious lyricism about how his rap persona was fake. Something introspective, jazzy, maybe add The Alchemist,” another user posted.
One fan even had a special request referring to a snippet fans have clamored to hear for years.
“Monaco, the biggest unreleased track in history, has to be on there please, do me this favor goat,” another user posted.
There is no release date for Future’s new album as of this writing.
