At one point, Fetty Wap, born Willie Maxwell II, was sitting on top of the world as one of the biggest hitmakers in the music industry. Songs such as Trap Queen, RGF Island, and My Way catapulted him to superstardom in the rap industry.

Unfortunately, Fetty Wap’s reign on top was short-lived after he landed in legal trouble. In 2021, the New Jersey native was swept up by the feds for his participation in a drug trafficking ring.

As Fetty Wap awaits his release from prison, he has kept his fans updated by occasionally sharing photos from prison. The latest update came on Friday (September 26). In a photo shared by @FlakkoPoetic on social media, Fetty once again looks noticeably different from the last update.

Of course, fans went crazy with the reactions on social media after seeing the most recent update from the rap star.

“This is what [Young] Thug was supposed to do. Get swole and fine. Then the phone calls wouldn’t have mattered,” one fan said on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“He’s gonna come back and get another number one song,” another user said.

“He stayed more solid than most. And ain’t in there crying about it like Fivio or Casanova. Did his time like he supposed to,” a third user added.

Rap Star’s Sister Pleads For Commuted Sentence

Fetty was found guilty and sentenced to a six-year prison sentence in May 2023. According to the post, his release date is currently scheduled for January 8, 2027.

However, the rap star’s sister, Divinity Maxwell Butts, believes that the two and a half years that he has served thus far are sufficient for the crimes that he was charged with. And wants him released now.

“My brother has taken responsibility and served over half his sentence for a nonviolent offense. He is scheduled to be released in 2027, but justice should also mean mercy,” Butts wrote via the rap star’s Instagram account in April. “His sentence should be commuted so he can come home to his family, his children, and his purpose. It’s time.”

However, to this point, there have been no advanced discussions on an early release for the rap artist.
