Fetty Wap is back in that mode — album mode that is. The rap artist is set to drop his first project since being released from prison earlier this year.
Fetty Wap Set to Drop First Album Since Prison Release
Fetty hasn’t wasted any time in the studio. He was just released from federal custody in January. And less than two months later, he is already teasing the rollout for his new album. After a three-year prison stint, Fetty says he is just happy that fans are still standing behind him. He also says that the new project represents a “new chapter” in his life.
“I’m just happy and grateful to be back and thankful that my fans didn’t forget about me. I’m so thankful to my family, fans, and team for holding me down,” Fetty said in a statement to Billboard. “This new music is a reflection of a new chapter in my life. I just want to bring back good energy and good vibes. I love y’all.”
The new album will be titled Zavier. Amid the rollout for the new project, Fetty also dropped a trailer for the upcoming project on Monday (March 16). In the rollout, the My Way artist reveals how his prison experience helped shape his alter ego, Zavier.
“When you lose the money, everybody thinks that’s the worst part,” Fetty says in the viral clip. “When it gets real quiet, that’s when it hits different. I got so used to hearing Fetty everywhere I go, before I even knew who Zavier was. Somewhere in all that, I became a character in my own life. People really loved what I could provide for real, not who I really was.”
Fetty’s new project is set to arrive on March 27. It will be interesting to see if he can recapture that same momentum that he had before he went to jail.
