After a two-week-long manhunt, Boxing star Gervonta “Tank” Davis was finally arrested. Per ESPN, the former WBC champion was arrested by the authorities in Miami on Wednesday Night (January 28).
Gervonta Davis Arrested After Two-Week Search
Davis was arrested in relation to a domestic incident that he was involved in with his ex-girlfriend Courtney Rossel last year.
On January 14, Miami Police secured a warrant for his arrest. After the warrant was issued, Rossel’s attorney released a statement, saying that the criminal charges against the boxer were right on line with the civil suit Rossel had filed.
“What the police said is exactly in line with our lawsuit. So whatever investigation they did, they determined it was enough to get a judge to sign off on an arrest warrant,” Rossel’s attorney, Jeff Chukwuma, told ESPN on Jan. 14. “The state attorney had to make the determination before, which coincides exactly with our civil complaint.”
The boxing star allegedly entered Tootsie’s, a popular Miami gentlemen’s club where Rossel works, on October 27. Davis allegedly stormed into the restaurant in a rage and attacked Rossell in a back room where no cameras were present.
According to a report from ESPN, Rossel filed a civil lawsuit against him. Ross accused him of “battery, aggravated battery, false imprisonment, kidnapping, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.”
Tank’s arrest also cost him financially. He was scheduled to fight rising boxer Jake Paul in an exhibition match on Netflix in 2025. However, after Rossel filed her lawsuit against Tank, Paul and his MVP Promotions called off the fight entirely.
At the time of writing, there is no information available on a potential bond for the boxing star.
