In 2024, Irv Gotti, the famed music producer who catapulted musical acts such as Ja Rule and Charli Baltimore to superstardom, passed away. He was 54 years old at the time of his passing.
Chris Gotti Blasts Ashanti Following His Brother’s Passing
As founder of Murder Inc., one of the top rap labels in the early 2000s, Gotti worked with some of the top talents in hip-hop. However, his most notable artist is R&B star Ashanti. During her time on Murder Inc., Ashanti churned out hits like Happy, Foolish, and Rock With You.
In the wake of the star producer’s death, his brother, Chris Gotti, revealed that he has a bone to pick with Ashanti. Because she didn’t make an effort to visit Chris in person following his brother’s death. Although he does note that she contacted him via text.
He also doubled down on his criticism. Noting that her reluctance to reach out to him was even more foul. Because he was the reason she was even signed to Murder Inc.
“I was upset because we haven’t spoken in person after Irv’s passing,” Chris said during a recent appearance on the Breakfast Club. “And I promise you, I’m the reason she was Murder Inc. Irv made the records, but Irv would’ve never gotten to that point if I didn’t do what I did. For her not to call me after Irv’s passing, she texted me, That doesn’t feel right. His mother, Tina, doesn’t feel right. I did everything for them. Never did I get one thing in return. Don’t count tickets because I could get that myself.”
Although Ashanti and Irv were close-knit when she was signed to his label, things got awkward between them during the latter years. After the R&B star shut down Gotti’s claims that they were an item. However, following his death, Ashanti has expressed remorse that things did not end on good terms.
