J. Cole is slowly starting to reappear on the music scene. On March 6 he gave fans a treat as he released the remix of his recently released song, Cloudz. With a surprise feature from Wiz Khalifa.
J Cole & Wiz Khalifa Link Up on New Song
With the two blog-era rap legends gracing the track, Cole saluted Khalifa’s “wave” in the promotion of the track.
“Wiz skating. TGOD. And he has been on a wave,” he wrote on social media.
Wiz has previously teased being on the remix, in a preview for the fans earlier this year.
“Cole asked me to do a verse on here I don’t know when he’s gonna drop it so I figured I’d let y’all get a sneak peek,” he wrote.
In the original version of the song, Cole touches on a myriad of topics, including the assassination attempt on Donald Trump during his campaign trail last summer.
“I’m that bass in your trunk, the bullet that missed Trump, The gun that jammed ’cause it seemed God had other plans,” he says on the track.
He also touches on the normalization of Artificial Intelligence in music.
“Don’t buy, subscribe so you can just stream your content. Like rent, you won’t own a thing. Before long, all the songs the whole world sings be generated by latest of AI regimes. As all of our favorite artists erased by it scream. From the wayside, ‘Aye, whatever happened to human beings?’” he raps.
Coincidentally, artificial intelligence played a major role in the beef between Drake and Kendrick Lamar. Drake’s song Taylor Made, uses artificial intelligence to rap from the perspective of Snoop Dogg and Tupac. Cole at one point was involved in the beef. However, he publicly bowed out after seeing the two artists were heading down a dark road. It will be interesting to see if this is a part of an album rollout for Cole.
