J.Cole Reveals He Will Focus on Producing For Other Artists

Following the album’s release, J. Cole expressed his gratitude for the warm reception that it received from fans. But it also sounds like this could be his last project for a little while. The Carolina native recently expressed that he wants to focus on producing.

Thank you, it means a lot. I got a genuine love for music, and the blessing in dropping this album is that I’m highly inspired. I have no interest in making more ‘J. Cole’s albums, but my passion and excitement right now is in producing,” Cole told his fans during an AMA on Monday (February 9).

J. Cole is shifting his focus away from making his own albums and toward producing and helping shape other artists’ projects:

After such a long layoff with no new music, Cole has blitzed the industry with new drops over the past few weeks. He dropped a new mixtape, Birthday Blizzard 2026, on January 28th to commemorate his 28th birthday. And a day later, he dropped The Fall Off, which was a double-feature album. Cole says that if he gets the itch to make new music, he’ll go with that feeling. But he made it clear that he will not try to “top” his latest project.

“I will write, I will record when it hits me. Release new music if the spirit says to do so. But The Fall-Off is a project I won’t try to top,” he continued. “I wanna make beats, produce for other artists, even if I’m not making the beat. Just helping to craft the vision. That’s a big passion of mine that I haven’t been able to lock in on cuz for years my focus was on ME and my story. I think my gift is maybe even greater when I’m in a more selfless role.”
