Jay-Z Set to Debut New Documentary on HBO This Fall
According to a Thursday (June 25) report from Deadline, the rap star will sit down for a one-on-one conversation with legendary producer Rick Rubin. In an eight-part documentary series set to debut on HBO this fall.
There is also an accompanying teaser for the upcoming documentary series. Hov gives potential viewers a taste of what they can expect from the upcoming series.
“Everyone had the same experience. Except I was the one to stand on the soapbox and articulate what we were going through. So the pain, we don’t say it’s necessary. We don’t say you need it, but if it’s there, you use it,” he says to Ruben in a clip caught by Big_Business_ on X.

Of course, fans had a lot to say about the upcoming project once it was announced.
“If this all wraps up with a documentary and no new album, I can’t front like I won’t be disappointed,” one user wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“We’re definitely getting a new album …. Definitely performing at Super Bowl too,” a second user chimed in.
“Can’t knock the hustle is the perfect tagline for Jay-Z — his whole career is a masterclass in turning every opportunity into a legacy move,” a third user remarked.
Jay-Z has been more active in 2026 than he has in years. He currently has two pop-ups going in Brooklyn and Manhattan to celebrate the 30th anniversary of his debut album, Reasonable Doubt. He will also perform three sold-out shows at Yankee Stadium in July. Could this all be part of a rollout that will culminate with a studio album?
