In a recent post to her social media account, Latto tagged Joe Budden in a whiteboard that featured lyrics to her song Hostage. Hitting back at the podcast host’s claims that Drake was a writer on the song.
Joe Budden Responds to Latto Hitting Back at His Drake Comment
It did not take Budden long to respond to the Sugar Honey Iced Tea creator. During a recent episode of his podcast, Budden says that his comments about Latto’s song were taken out of context.
“Somebody not writing they sh*t is a heavy accusation, so I wasn’t even really trying to say that about her,” he said.
During a previous episode of the podcast, Budden said that the song, which featured 21 Savage, sounded a lot like Drake. And even suggested that the sound was similar to Savage and Drake’s 2022 collab album, Her Loss. And also likened it to Drake’s new Iceman track, Shabang.
But Joe says just because he says her songs sound like Drake, doesn’t mean that he was insinuating that he actually wrote them for her. He asserts that he was saying that she listens to Drake so much that the flow had rubbed off on her.
“She says she writes all her s**t, but there’s also such a thing as listening to somebody so much that it kind of rubs off on you when you write,” Budden continued. “She could really listen to Drake 24/7 and love that flow so much that now when she writes, that’s what’s happening. I wasn’t trying to say that she don’t write her s**t.”
At the time of writing, Latto has not responded to Budden.
