Fans waiting on Kanye West’s upcoming album Bully will have to hold off a little longer. The rapper has reportedly pushed the release back to March 20 following a new partnership deal with independent music company Gamma.
The album was originally scheduled to drop on Friday (Jan. 30), but Rolling Stone reported on Wednesday (Jan. 28) that the project has been delayed. Gamma’s growing roster includes artists such as Sexyy Red, Rick Ross, French Montana, and Mariah Carey.
Ye formally announced Bully last September, describing it as a concept album largely recorded in Tokyo, Japan. In March of last year, he released a Bully short film directed by Hype Williams, featuring music from the project, though it remains unclear if those tracks will appear on the final confirmed version. The album was initially expected to arrive last June and has since faced multiple delays.
The latest update also comes shortly after Ye took out a public ad in The Wall Street Journal, where he denounced his past anti-Semitic remarks and apologized to both the Black and Jewish communities. He later emphasized that the apology was not a promotional tactic tied to releasing new music.
