Ken Carson’s album promo strategy isn’t quite going as planned. The Atlanta rapper reacted to reports that his for the fans releases have been tainted by someone trying to get a quick come up.
What Happened With Ken Carson’s Music?
As part of his rollout for his new album XPERIMENT, Carson has hid flash drives around big city parks containing a couple songs from the project. At first, the rollout worked like a charm. Carson decided to harken back to the times of when flash drives would leak out to the internet, much before Untitled projects, and WeTransfers became the norm of sharing music.
Through this, he put a play on leaking through music theft, a popular method of music getting out to the masses in 2010s, sometimes on accident, sometimes as strategy. To do this, Carson chose a few cities to hide a flash drive in the designated area. He began by stashing a hidden drive in Atlanta, then Chicago a day after.
But on the third day, Carson hid his drive in Los Angeles, which a fan found quickly. According to Carson’s message, when fans found the drive, they were instructed to share the contents with the rest of the world. This worked at first, as fans leaked a couple songs, revealing features such as Young Thug.
However, the person who found it in Los Angeles, decided to get a quick bag and put the flash drive up on eBay. News spread quickly, leading to a response from Carson.
“wtf,” he posted on X.
He has not elaborated on his thoughts, and hasn’t indicated any changes to the final USB drop planned Monday (June 29th) in New York.
