Kevin Gates shared a deeply personal and controversial reflection during a recent appearance on Club Shay Shay, revealing that he believes he could have cured his father of AIDS if the circumstances existed today.
The interview, which aired Wednesday (Jan. 28), featured Gates speaking with Shannon Sharpe about losing his father as a teenager. Gates confirmed that his father died from AIDS after using infected needles, a moment he says permanently shaped his outlook on life and health.
“That’s what made me get into holistic medicine,” Gates explained. “I was with him for a long time up until he passed. He taught me a lot of beautiful lessons. If I could go back in time… I could have cured him.”
Gates clarified that he wasn’t positioning himself as a medical expert, adding, “I ain’t Dr. Sebi or no sh*t like that… but I could have cured him. He’s the one who made me take health so serious.”
Over the years, Gates has become increasingly vocal about alternative wellness practices and holistic health. He has publicly promoted non-traditional approaches to physical and spiritual well-being, including semen retention—a practice he revealed in 2024 he plans to follow for five years.
The comments have sparked conversation online, with reactions ranging from empathy and reflection to debate, as Gates once again blends vulnerability, personal belief, and unconventional views into the public discourse.
