Even after being the main character on social media over the last several days, LaRussell isn’t ducking any smoke.
LaRussell Responds to Backlash Over ‘Heaven Sent’ Comments
The Roc Nation artist posted a video to his social media account on Tuesday (March 17) to respond to the backlash over a clip from a recent performance that went viral on social media over the weekend. In the social media post, the rapper says that his words were completely taken out of context.
“The homies briefed me yesterday on all the outrage,” he said in the clip. “My first thought was, ‘n****s ain’t that slow.’ But I go and look, and n****s that slow. Just listen to the music. It’s no way n****s hear to that clip, and they like, ‘You support Epstein.'”

The controversy surrounding LaRussell stems from a recent performance. Where he refers to controversial public figures Donald Trump and Jefferey Epstein as “heaven sent.”
LaRussell prefaces the song by saying that when he sent the track off to his engineer to be mixed, they advised against it. Due to the controversial lyrics. But he says he still felt it was his duty as an artist to release the song. Because part of his responsibility as an artist is “saying things that other people are scared to.”
After the clip went viral on social media, fans did not take it easy on him. And they weren’t too interested in hearing his explanation either.
“No one thinks you support Epstein… the music and message were ass, and you shoulda listened to your engineer, “one user wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“I think the issue is not understanding that we are created by one Creator. The term “heaven sent” is normally used when calling someone a blessing,” a second user chimed in.
“No nigga we understand but it’s a point that doesn’t need to be made lmfao shoulda listened to yo engineer,” a third user said.
