Tina Knowles’ popular food stand, Mama Tina’s Gumbo, experienced a brief shutdown during its debut run at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.
According to the Houston Health Department, the Creole gumbo booth was temporarily closed on Monday before reopening just two days later on Wednesday. While the exact reason for the shutdown has not been publicly disclosed, officials confirmed that the issue has since been resolved.
Mama Tina’s Gumbo quickly became a major attraction at the rodeo, drawing crowds eager to taste the family recipe that Knowles says she has perfected over decades—a dish closely tied to her daughter, Beyoncé.
In a statement, the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo emphasized that all vendors must comply with regulations set by the Fire Marshal and the Houston Health Department. Organizers also noted that Mama Tina’s team was cooperative and worked closely with officials to address what were described as clerical issues.
Following those corrections, the booth has resumed operations, allowing attendees once again to enjoy one of the event’s most talked-about food offerings.
