Rod Wave was arrested on multiple charges in Georgia on the same day he scored his first-ever Grammy nomination.
According to Fulton County public records, the 27-year-old artist — born Rodarius Green — was taken into custody by the Atlanta Police Department on Friday (Nov. 7). He was booked on four charges, including possession of a firearm or knife during the commission of or attempt to commit a felony, reckless driving, and two counts of possession of a controlled substance.
Records show that Rod Wave was released from custody the following day (Nov. 8).
In a statement to TMZ, the rapper’s legal team — Drew Findling, Marissa Goldberg, and Zack Findling — called the arrest “unjust” and claimed that Wave had been “unjustly profiled and unlawfully arrested in Atlanta.”
They alleged that the arresting officer was part of the APD’s Crime Suppression Unit, a division the attorneys described as “known for its aggressive tactics and emphasis on high arrest numbers rather than genuine public safety.”
Findling told TMZ that the arrest was “a clear violation” of Wave’s rights and that his client had already appeared in court and was released on an $8,000 bond.
This marks the latest in a string of legal issues for the Florida-born rapper, who was arrested twice earlier this year in Georgia — once in May on 14 charges including aggravated assault and conspiracy to commit a felony, and again in June for battery.
Despite the controversy, Wave’s career continues to climb. On the same day as his arrest, the “Rags2Riches” hitmaker earned his first Grammy nomination for Best Song Written for Visual Media for his single “Sinners”, featured in the 2025 film of the same name.
Wave is also gearing up for his The Redemption Experience Tour, which kicks off Dec. 7 in Los Angeles and will run through 2026.
