ScHoolboy Q has revealed he’s done with marijuana. The TDE rapper explained his reasoning while on a recent podcast.
Why Did ScHoolboy Q Stop Smoking?
The California rapper sat down with NBA champion JR Smith on the Par 3 podcast to explain what changed regarding his feelings towards weed.
“Me, personally, I feel like I got everything I got out of it,” ScHoolboy Q said. “I’ve been smoking so much, and smoking, like, 20 times a day. At some point, it ain’t really doing nothing. You just got this oral [fixation]. You’re just constantly doing it… But it was mainly for my daughters, my kids. Just to let them know you can do anything. My seven-year-old, I don’t try to put the pressure [on] yet, but my [oldest] daughter, she’s about to be 17. She go through her ups and downs, and she’s finally hit adversity in her life, where she’s going through problems and issues. And then it was just, like, me constantly telling her you can do anything. Like, don’t even trip…You can do anything, don’t let these little bumps in a road stop you,” So, me quitting weed was mainly for her, too. Like, ‘Watch this, I’mma just stop weed. F*** it.'”
Q went on to say his lifestyle change is permanent.
“I’m never smoking again,” he said. “I got so much out of it and I’m not going to sit here and be like… I will say that it does have health benefits for certain people, but the way I was using it? No. But most importantly, you can do anything if you put your mind to it.”
He also made sure to emphasize he sees the benefits of cannabis use, and isn’t telling people to avoid it.

What Else Has He Been Up To?
The south central rapper has stayed relatively quiet recently. But his past self caused a stir when the OVO fans dug up a 2013 tweet which praised Drake.
“Every time Drake drops a song, everybody stops what they’re doing and finds Headphones lol cuHz 2 on,” ScHoolboy Q posted.
Q then deleted the post after it got too much attention. His friendship with Drake’s arch rival Kendrick Lamar also may have contributed to that decision.
Back in July 2024, Q’s concert in Toronto was canceled, which he believes happened because of Dot and Drake’s feud.
The duo have not collabed since 2014, when ScHoolboy Q tapped Drake to hop on his remix for “3 Hours.”
