Snoop Dogg Set to Headline NFL’s Halftime Show
In a social YouTube video, the NFL announced that Snoop Dogg would be the halftime entertainment for their upcoming NFC North clash between the Detroit Lions and Minnesota Vikings on Christmas Day.
The promo video features a sample of pop funk icon George Clinton’s famed “bow wow wow, yippie yo yippie yay,” lyrics from the classic song Atomic Dog mashed up with the rap star’s “Drop It Like It’s Hot.”
Ahead of his performance, Snoop promised to deliver “holiday magic” that Santa himself isn’t even capable of.
“NFL, Netflix, and your Uncle Snoop on Christmas Day?” Snoop Dogg said of the Halftime Show. “We’re servin’ up music, love, and good vibes for the whole world to enjoy. That’s the kind of holiday magic Santa can’t fit in a bag.”
Additionally, Netflix’s Chief Content Officer Bela Bajaria expressed his excitement over the halftime show. Noting that the NFL and Snoop Dogg are two “global cultural juggernauts” who are ready to bring “the ultimate gift.”
“Christmas Gameday just got a whole lot cooler. “We’re uniting two global cultural juggernauts. The NFL and the one and only Snoop Dogg, who will drop the hottest halftime show,” Bajaria said ahead of Snoop’s performance. “As a West Coast girl and huge fan myself, I can confidently say this is the ultimate gift we could give our members. We’re ready to drop it like it’s hot with this holiday celebration!”
The game is set to be equally as exciting. With the Lions and Vikings being two NFC North Rivals vying for divisional supremacy as the playoffs draw nearer. It is sure to be a clash that the fans will enjoy. Snoop as the halftime performer is the perfect cherry on top.
