The Atlanta Hawks are set to host a night paying homage to one of the city’s most iconic establishments. When they take on the Orlando Magic in March. They will pay homage to the city’s iconic gentlemen’s club — Magic City.
Luke Kornet Says Hawks ‘Magic City Night’ is Disrespectful
Many of the city’s residents have expressed excitement over the Magic City-themed night. However, San Antonio Spurs big man Luke Kornet has issued a statement saying that the NBA should cancel the event. Calling it disrespectful to women.
“The NBA should desire to protect and esteem women, many of whom work diligently every day to make this the best basketball league in the world,” he said in a statement (via LegionHoops). “We should promote an atmosphere that is protective and respectful of the daughters, wives, sisters, mothers, and partners that we know and love.”
He also says that allowing the event to proceed would “reflect poorly” on the league.
“Allowing this night to go forward without protest would reflect poorly on us as an NBA community, specifically in being complicit in the potential objectification and mistreatment of women in our society,” he concluded.

Of course, fans on social media had a lot to say about Kornet’s comments.
“Major Luke Kornet W. You do what you want with your free time, but NBA promoting this is distasteful,” one user wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“I promise you we do not care about Luke Kornet’s opinion,” a second user added.
“Why are people acting like naked strippers are gonna be in the stands shaking butt on the fans lmao it’s wings, merch, and a halftime show THATS IT,” a third user chimed in.
During the event, fans will get to enjoy the taste of the ever-popular Magic City kitchen. They will serve two versions of their popular lemon pepper wings. The original version and the Louwill Lemon Pepper BBQ.
Atlanta-born artist T.I. is also set to perform during halftime of the game, while popular Atlanta DJ, DJ Esco, will curate the pre-game playlist.
At the time of writing, the NBA has not responded to Kornet’s comments.
