In 2025, Toosii revealed that he would be taking a step back from his rap career to pursue a long-time dream of his. To play college football. And in December, he announced that he committed to play football for the Division I Syracuse Orangemen.
“To be born in Syracuse and move to North Carolina at age 12 and haven’t been back since. When Coach Fran called, I knew it was a sign from God. So with that being said, Cuse, I’m coming home,” he said of the commitment.
Syracuse Coach Casts Doubt On Toosii’s Football Future
However, Orangemen head coach Fran Brown Jr. gave further insight into Toosie’s commitment. In an interview with ESPN on Wednesday (January 22), Brown said that Toosie won’t be on a scholarship. If he does make the team, it will be as a walk-on. And even if that happens, there is still no guarantee that he will actually play.
“He’s not going to come here and play ball,” Brown said when speaking to reporters. “I was going to allow him to walk on. I’m not sure if I’m supposed to talk about that or not.”

With the high school football season officially over, the rising Orangemen are expected to have even more commitments from other top players. This made Brown cast doubt on the possibility of the rap artist even making the team as a walk-on.
“I’m not sure if that will happen because we’re getting more and more players on the football team,” Brown said. “I’ve got to evaluate it now. More and more players are coming who can play ball.”
