The 2017 According 2 Hip-Hop Award For Album Of The Year Goes 2 “DAMN” by Kendrick Lamar.
In today’s fast pace world of music an album that came out in the beginning of the calendar year can seem like it came out 2 years ago by year’s end. This was not the case with Kendrick Lamar’s “DAMN” album. This album had all the hype and all the build up when Kendrick released a warning shot with The Heart Part 4 famously telling the rap world that they have till April the 7th to get their shit together.
So for the whole week the rap world was highly anticipating this album that no one yet knew the title of. When April 7th hit the rap world didn’t get an album but we got the album title, a release date, and the single HUMBLE.
When April 14th got here Kendrick’s album lived up to the hype and the masses have praised him for it. This wasn’t just an album that was hot for a few weeks and people moved on. This album kept the standard the whole calendar year by releasing one single at a time. Not to mention that the album songs were critically acclaimed as well.
When we look back at Kendrick’s career years from now DAMN will be a high point that many will look back at as a turning point.
