Drake went viral in August after he revealed he purchased Tupac Shakur’s Death Row chain in a social media post..
The social media post stirred up a lot of controversy amongst fans after he acquired yet another hip-hop artifact. One person who has taken exception to Drake’s latest purchase is Tupac’s brother, Mopreme.
Tupac’s Brother Rips Drake For Buying Death Row Chain
In a recent interview with The Latest, Mopreme called out the rap star for purchasing Pac’s alleged Death Row chain. Especially after Drake recently threw shade at American rappers, claiming that artists from the United Kingdom are better.
“My man needs to think more about his moves. Because I just saw in London, talking about, ‘London got the best rappers. London rappers are better than American rappers.’ So why are you so seeking after the king of raps’ jewels, literal jewels?” Mopreme said. “If England has the best rappers, why are you doing this? So I don’t know.”
Pac’s brother also went on to say that the only people who should have access to any of his belongings are the late rapper’s surviving family members.
“I think the family should have all of Pac’s things, personally. But things don’t always work out that way. My personal opinion, that’s what I feel,” he added.
However, despite the disdain over Drake’s new jewels, there has been reason to question the authenticity of the chain. In a recent interview with Art of Dialogue, Death Row Records co-founder, Suge Knight, claims that Drake bought a knockoff.
“Well, I’m quite sure it’s not true. When I came up with the idea to make the Death Row chain—one, it had never been done before. Two, it was like wearing a, you know, it was like having your flag, your rag. You can’t tuck it. It means something,” Knight said.
“That’s not 2Pac’s chain. It’s not a Death Row chain. Whoever sold you that chain, Drake, you need to go beat his mo**********g ass. Crazy.”
