Beloved Chicago rapper Twista is in hot water right now. Over the weekend, he pled guilty to tax fraud and it could land the fast flow lyricist in jail.
What Did Twista Do?
According to court documents dug up by TMZ, prosecutors have levied Twista with charges of evading income taxes in the figure of hundreds of thousands of dollars. They have served him five charges of failing to pay his taxes. Instead of fighting the charges, Twista has chosen to plead guilty for all counts. He’s reportedly seeking a plea deal, as he faces up to 5 years in prison.
Prosecutors say he made plenty of income from 2019 to 2023 off royalties, licensing, and other methods. However, despite several warnings, he willfully ignored paying taxes and the fines associated with his lateness.
Reportedly, he entered into third party agreements with financing companies to keep the IRS from touching his assets. He also kept spending instead of settling his debt. The IRS reports Twista accumulated more than $500,000 in tax debt, beginning in 2011.
His court date is scheduled on October 22nd.

What Else Has Been Going On With Him?
The “Adrenaline Rush” artist hasn’t been too visible as of late. Back in May, The Art Of Dialogue caught a video of him practicing his shooting skills in anticipation of the 2026 Indiana State USPSA Championship.
He’s also been busy performing, most recently accepting a guest spot to perform with Rick Ross in Chicago July 17th. Due to the trial’s fall date, it seems like Twista should still be able to perform. Additionally, he pulled up to the L.A. Block Party to play his hits for the crowd. Other performers included Mario, Danity Kane, Petey Pablo, Juelz Santana, and Keyshia Cole as the headliner.
He also recently celebrated the 29th anniversary of his seminal classic “Adrenaline Rush.”
