Singer/actor Tyrese Gibson found himself in some hot water on Friday Morning (October 3). According to a report from TMZ, the Fast & Furious star was arrested on Friday on an animal cruelty charge.
Tyrese Arrest in Atlanta on Animal Cruelty Charges
Tyrese’s pet cane corso had killed one of his neighbor’s dogs in Atlanta, Georgia.The five-year-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel was mauled to death by Tyrese’s dog. To make things worse, the incident occurred in the neighbor’s yard.
The outlet spoke to the owner of the now-deceased dog. Who says that he discovered his dog unresponsive and covered in dog dribble on the night of September 18th. The neighbor also alleges that Tyrese’s dogs have been known to roam unsupervised around the neighborhood.
In the aftermath of the incident, Fulton County Police Animal Services Captain Nicole Dwyer ripped the film star. Noting that his “negligence” is the reason that an “innocent animal” is now dead.
“It is the negligence on his part as the homeowner and animal owner. Just letting them roam free,” Dwyer said (via HotNewHipHop). “And now they have killed an innocent animal.”
Before his arrest on Friday, Tyrese’s attorney, Gabe Banks, released a statement. Banks noted that his client was forced to make the “difficult decision” to “rehome” his dogs.
“Mr. Tyrese Gibson extends his deepest condolences to the family who lost their beloved dog to this tragic incident. That occurred while Mr. Gibson was away from his home. So upon learning of this unfortunate accident, Mr. Gibson immediately made the difficult decision to rehome his dogs. To a safe and loving environment,” he said.
He also added: “Mr. Gibson asks for privacy and understanding. He remains committed to the safety of his community and the well-being of all animals.”
Per TMZ, Tyrese was released on a $20,000 bond earlier on Friday.
