This has been a summer to remember for hip-hop. New projects from Clipse, Tyler, the Creator, and Travis Scott have taught fans to expect the unexpected.
But despite hip-hop being full of surprises over the past few months, fans were still shocked by a recent leak. Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, apparently had a feature verse on a song with Kendrick Lamar.
Fans Clown Ye For Verse on Kendrick Lamar Collab
However, despite fans being excited about the collaboration, they were less than impressed with the actual verse. And expressed their disappointment in the comments section on Reddit.
“Lmao laughed when Ye’s verse came on,” one fan wrote.
“It sounds like Kendrick let the Make-A-Wish kid in the booth,” another user added.
The collaboration between the two rap stars was unexpected to say the least. Especially after Ye unleashed a series of heated social media posts at Kendrick earlier this year. One of which claimed that he was in cahoots with Universal Music Group CEO, Lucien Grainge.
Amid his rant, one fan chimed in, noting that Ye was just seeking a response from the Good Kid M.A.A.D. City artist. That’s when West responded to the fan, basically daring Kendrick to come at him on behalf of the famed music exec.
“Kendrick Pleaseeeee come diss me on behalf of Lucien Grange, Pleaseeee,” he wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
However, not all of Ye’s comments about Kendrick have been defamatory. Earlier this year, he praised the Grammy-winner for his “super fresh” Halftime performance at the Super Bowl.
“A few people have been asking me what I think about the Kendrick halftime show. I loved the show. It was my favorite halftime show since the Michael Jackson era, which I can barely remember, I just see clips of it,” he said in a video posted online.
“It was super simple. The flag was fresh, the way they did ‘HUMBLE’ with the people’s heads moving. I was shaking. I was like, ‘This is super fresh.’ The man’s voice control, all that.”
