Xzibit is the latest rap legend to break out of his retirement. His last album, Restless, dropped in 2000. But recently, he announced an upcoming album titled Kingmaker. The former Pimp My Ride host has assembled a star studded cohort to work with him on this project. But the most notable is legendary super producer Dr. Dre.

Xzibit Compares Working With Dr. Dre to Being on The Avengers

Dre is featured on Track 6 of the project titled Leave Me Alone. However, this won’t be the first time the two will have hit the studio. X and Dre also worked together on the song B***h Please, which was featured on Snoop Dogg’s 1999 Album, No Limit Top Dogg.

When speaking about working with Dr. Dre for the first time, Xzibit compared it to being “recruited into The Avengers.”

“When we did ‘B***h Please’ together. The insanity of it was being a fan first, and then you basically get recruited into The Avengers. I’ll never lose that feeling, because it keeps things in perspective,” the rapper said in a May 15 interview with Billboard.

“The direction Dre gives when he’s in the studio only elevates the record because you rely on his experience. Even if it takes you out of your comfort zone.”

When X initially announced the album, the release date was set for March 28. However, Leave Me Alone, was a late submission. And with two legendary producers in Swizz Beatz and Dr. Dre being co-creators on the song, leaving it off the project was simply not an option.

“We were supposed to come out on March 28, and then [‘Leave Me Alone’] came in,” Xzibit added.

“I was like, ‘Oh shit!’ It was crazy. Swizz Beatz actually did the track, and Dre did co-production, and just to have both of them together on a track, I don’t think that’s ever been done. It was really exciting. To have Dre on the album after all this time means the world to me. He’s my brother, he’s a coach.”
