YNW Melly is making another push for freedom.
The embattled rapper’s legal team just filed a new motion asking a judge to grant him bond as he awaits retrial in his double murder case—where proceedings have been dragged out for years, with the next trial not set until 2027.
Melly, locked up since 2019, is accused of killing his friends Anthony Williams and Christopher Thomas Jr. Prosecutors claim he and co-defendant Cortlen Henry staged the crime as a drive-by.
Now 26, Melly’s new attorneys say he’s spent years in “inhumane” conditions, including solitary confinement since 2021, arguing it’s harsher than actual prison time despite him still being presumed innocent.
They’re also pointing to a recent appellate ruling that threw out key evidence, claiming the state’s case isn’t as strong as it once was.
Melly is offering to do house arrest with electronic monitoring and says he’s not a flight risk—he’s never even had a passport.
He continues to deny any role in the killings.
